Analyst blasts “disgusting” hockey from Oilers
The Oilers are one loss away from their season ending.
The first trip for the Edmonton Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final since 2006 is on the verge of ending as quickly as it began. The Florida Panthers have taken a three games to none stranglehold over the Oilers after last night's 4-3 victory at Rogers Place, a contest in which their lead was initially 4-1 before a pair of 3rd period tallies gave Edmonton hope.
During the second period, it was a pair of defensive miscues by the Oilers that opened the door for the Panthers to seize the lead that they wouldn't relinquish. And that didn't sit well with Barstool Sports founder Davide Portnoy, who lamented the "disgusting hockey" that he saw.
He held a much more optimistic view prior to the game:
Tomorrow night, the Panthers can clinch their first ever Stanley Cup victory, and it would mark the second time that the Cup has been skated on Rogers Place ice; the first occasion was in 2020 during the NHL "bubble" at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
