Carey Price and his family kicked off the summer by moving from Montreal despite still three years left on his contract with the Canadiens. However, it’s not like anyone is expecting him to make a miracle comeback as he is semi-retired due to an injury, was away from the team and on the long-term injured reserve for the past year.

Earlier this week, his wife Angela took on Instagram to answer some random anonymous questions, and one fan asked about the ongoing rumours involving her husband and the potential of him returning to the Canadiens.

One rumour that has recently surfaced is that Price could embark on a new career similar to the one Roberto Luongo put together with the Florida Panthers back in 2020 when he created a goaltending excellence department.

Angela admitted in her answer that she had to dig some information on the rumours on social media, and finally answered this:

“From what I read someone mentioned they wouldn’t be surprised if Carey took a role with the Habs in the future.

“So just speculation. Carey’s still under contract for 3 more years.”

While Angela does not deny the idea that Carey Price could be used in some way on the Canadiens’ panel to help the team, she does not feed into the rumour that her husband could be the head of the goalie department in Montreal.

However, it’s easy to imagine the impact Price would have in that role. Luongo put a goaltending department in place in Florida - and do we need to mention the impact it has had on the Panthers and especially Sergei Bobrovsky?

Price is signed through 2025-26 in Montreal. In his entire career with the Habs, he has led Montreal to 361 wins, put up five seasons with a save percentage topping .920, posted 49 career shutouts. He was also awarded the Hart Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, William M. Jennings Trophy and, in 2021-22, he took home the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

He has so much more to give to the team and could definitely fit in a role amidst a goaltending excellence department.
