There is a sense that unrestricted free agent forward Mason Marchment won’t return to the Florida Panthers as the market soon opens on Wednesday, per TSN’s Darren Dreger.
That another change to handle for the 27-year-old, who tragically lost his father Bryan Marchment last week. The former NHL defenseman was found dead in Montreal ahead of the NHL Draft, which he attended as a scout for San Jose Sharks. He was 53.
As Dreger points out, the Marchment family needs good news at this time. Hopefully the insider is right when he mentions that Marchment is getting interest as a free agent ahead of the opening at noon today.
Mason Marchment has spent parts of the past three seasons with the Panthers after being acquired in a trade with Toronto in 2020. He had a breakout season with Florida this year, scoring 18 goals with 47 points in 54 games.
