Another Bruins defenseman is injured after getting hit right on the numbers.

I keep writing that the Boston Bruins laundry list of injuries is almost too absurd to be believed this season, but somehow that list continues to grow on what now seems like a nightly basis for this organization.

The Bruins were already without Charlie McAvoy (head), Brandon Carlo(upper body), Kevan Miller (right hand), John Moore (lower body), Urho Vaakanainen (head) and of course Boston Bruins' captain Zdeno Chara(left knee) so it's not an overstatement in the least to suggest that they are playing with a decimated defensive group, but unfortunately for the Bruins they have now lost yet another defenseman to injury, or at least so it would seem.

The Bruins were facing off against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night in their second game of a back to back after a tough night against the Dallas Stars on Friday. As if that first game had not been bad enough, the Bruins lost star forward Patrice Bergeron to injury after an awkward hit from Stars forward Radek Faska, the Bruins suffered another loss in their second game of the back to back after Airzona Coyotes center Nick Cousins took out Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer.

This one is going to be especially frustrating for the Bruins fan base to swallow because not only does this mark yet another injury to their roster, but it marks the second night in a row where a questionable call from the officials has left the Bruins in a hole. This time the questionable thing about the call on the play was the fact that there was no call, this in spite of the fact that Cousins clearly saw nothing but Kampfer's numbers as he lined him up for what was a boarding hit from behind. Now in Cousins' defense he did not deliver the hit with any sort of vicious impact, but it was enough to cause Kampfer's head to bounce off of the glass and that seems to be where the injury occurred.

Now of course we don't know the extent of the injury to Kamper at this time but we do know that he has left the game following the hit and it remains to be seen if he will return for the game's second period.

Update: Good news for the Bruins here, Kampfer has come back out for the second period.
