Another hilarious interview from Leafs rookie Nikita Grebenkin.
Nikita Grebenkin, aka Mr. Paycheck himself, had another hilarious interview over the weekend.
Toronto Maple Leafs rookie forward Nikita Grebenkin has been thrust into the lineup as of late thanks to a number of issues at the forward position for the team, including injuries and a suspension, and thankfully for fans Grebenkin's arrival on the scene has proven to be rather hilarious.
Grebenkin quickly won over fans when he dropped what has quickly become a legendary line in the city of Toronto when describing his earlier experiences as a Maple Leaf.
"Team speak me backcheck, forecheck and paycheck," said Grebenkin when speaking to reporters about his time on the main roster.
And it would seem he is continuing to win over the hearts and minds of fans in the city of Toronto with another interview he did over the weekend, this time being interviewed by a couple of fans on the streets of the city. Grebenkin once again mentioned his paycheck, but it was his comments about the city and the team that appear to have endeared him even more with the Maple Leafs fan base.
"It's perfect," said Grebenkin when asked how he liked the city of Toronto. "Very different in my city, Toronto is big city."
Grebenkin also indicated that fans have been treating him really well since he arrived on the scene.
"Toronto people it's nice," said Grebenkin. "Every time speak me good luck good luck."
Grebenkin was asked how he felt about his play in just his second game as a Maple Leaf and he delivered what is quickly becoming his catchphrase.
"A win today it's paycheck," said Grebenkin getting a big reaction from the interviewers.
Grebenkin would then thank the interviewers and depart before returning for one final comment, perhaps his most endearing of all from the perspective of fans of the Maple Leafs.
"Go Leafs go!" exclaimed Grebenkin before jumping out of camera shot.
When the Maple Leafs get healthy and enforcer Ryan Reaves returns from his suspension it will be interesting to see where Grebenkin slots into the lineup, if at all, but he has certainly made the most of his time on the main roster thus far.
