Another player done for the season after major injury.

Another devastating injury ends one player's season.

There's an old saying I'm very fond of, "when it rains it pours."

That seems to be exactly the case for the Montreal Canadiens who just can't catch a break this season, and on Thursday things got much worse for a franchise that has struggled so badly that even the die hard fans in Montreal are starting to show disinterest.

The Canadiens have announced that they have lost defenseman Jeff Petry for the remainder of the regular season as a result of an abdominal injury that will require him to undergo surgery in order to repair the damage to his body.

Perhaps the silver lining here could be the fact that Montreal is highly unlikely to make the playoffs at this point, and if Petry were to suffer this kind of injury, it's better that it happened in what could effectively be garbage time for the Canadiens. Furthermore fans who are hoping the team will continue to tank and acquire a high end draft pick could also see a positive here, the Canadiens are likely to be a less effective club without Petry on the ice every night.
