The Philadelphia Flyers may already be focused on another trade after shipping orward Cutter Gauthier to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round selection in the 2025 NHL draft on Monday.

According to Darren Dreger, while the defensemen market has been quiet lately, there is a feeling that the Flyers could garner interest from other teams and pull the trigger on a trade with Philadelphia. This is what Dreger reported on last night’s Insider Trading on TSN when it comes to the teams looking for defensemen at this point in the season:

“In Calgary, a source there says that really not much has changed with Chris Tanev or Noah Hanifin , dating back to September. But you see a trade like [Jamie] Drysdale to the Philadelphia Flyers and obviously the radar goes up for a lot of clubs. The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping to get more interest in their players Nick Seeler and Sean Walker , and they’re still willing to retain as much as 50 per cent salary.”

Walker has been mentioned more than once in the rumour mill in 2023-24 due to his impressive performance and the fact that he is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Flyers could get a good return for him as he could become a prime target for teams seeking a rental and help on the back end. The 29-year-old has posted four goals, 13 points, and a plus-5 rating in 40 games this season and has been a great asset on the top 4 in Philadelphia. There are no reports that Walker is close to an extension with the Flyers and is likely to be a trade piece ahead of the March 8 deadline.

There is Seeler as well, who has seven assists and a plus-13 rating in 40 contests and has drawn the interest of some rivals out there. He could get the Flyers a great return in a deal, especially with his easily affordable $775,000 cap hit.

The Flyers could therefore be ready to make another move shortly after Monday’s blockbuster.
