The Minnesota Wild is keeping busy. After trading for Nick Foligno of the Chicago Blackhawks for only future considerations, general manager Bill Guerin has now traded Vinnie Hinostroza to the Florida Panthers for... well, again, future considerations.

While I love that the Wild acquired Foligno for so little, it stunned many, and now they are basically shipping Hinostroza for nothing too. But it's not because it's weird and surprising that we don't like it!

This means that one of Bill Zito’s first free agent signings in Florida returns. Hinostroza had signed as a free agent in 2020 before he was eventually traded out to Chicago.

Hinostroza is currently in the second year of a two-year deal that carriers a cap hit of $775,000 and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

It's been a tough go for him in Minny however. Over the course two seasons he's appeared in 72 games with 8 goals and 10 assists.

The Wild has been dealing. After acquiring winger Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers in return for young defenseman David Jiricek on Friday, the Wild is back on the acquisition again, trading for Foligno. Earlier today, they shipped young defenseman David Jiricek to the Philadelphia Flyers in a one-for-one swap for winger Bobby Brink. On Thursday, the Wild added more depth, acquiring veteran blue liner Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2026.

They also acquired Michael McCarron, trading a 2028 second-round pick to the Nashville Predators for fourth-line center earlier this week.

And let’s not forget how the Wild acquired Quinn Hughes in one of the biggest trade of the season back in December.
