Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz had plenty of reasons to be fired up after his team suffered a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Seattle Kraken. In spite of that, Stolarz went out of his way to single out one player in particular and it might not be the man you would have expected.

Stolarz was at the center of controversy when Kraken forward Mason Marchment came crashing into his net on Saturday night, a situation that Stolarz himself was very angry about. Stolarz threw his own net off the moorings after Marchment went into the net, with the goaltender admitting after the game that he would have prefered to direct his frustration at Marchment himself.

"I'm not happy, guy is gonna run me and I'm gonna try to stand up for myself," said Stolarz "I heard the ref say we have a power play and there's really not much I can do to him on the ground."

It made sense to hear Stolarz vent his frustration regarding Marchment when you consider that he was asked specifically about the incident, however the next target of Stolarz's ire was volunteered by the goaltender himself. When Stolarz was asked if he felt the team's struggles thus far were the result of early season jitters, he dismissed the notion entirely and called out Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander.

"I mean a lot of guys have been here for a while," said Stolarz. "Overtime you can't let someone beat you up the ice there. It's a clear cut breakaway, a minute left, you wanna be on the ice in that situation you gotta work hard."

Although Stolarz didn't mention Nylander by name, there was no mistaking who he was talking about given how the overtime winner for the Kraken played out on the ice.

Nylander is a player that has always brushed off outside pressures from pundits, the media, and fans but this is none of those. How he responds to being so publicly chastised by one of his very own teammates remains to be seen.
