Antoine Roussel agrees to a PTO.

A good fit?

The Philadelphia Flyers appear to be bringing in a player that very much seems to fit the stereotype of a typical John Tortorella style of player.

According to a French language report from Le Quotidien, the Flyers have agreed to bring in former Arizona Coyotes forward Antoine Roussel on a professional tryout offer (PTO). This means that Roussel will be joining the Flyers for what is expected to be a grueling training camp under the guidance of the newly appointed head coach, the aforementioned Tortorella.

Roussel spoke to the media in French after singing his PTO and said the following:

"I'm very happy, it's good news," said Roussel as per Le Quotidien. "It's a team that we had targeted to try and get a contract from and I think that they have room. It's a good opportunity and I'm excited."

The 32 year old winger has earned a reputation as an incredibly annoying player to play against, and that can be a very valuable assets in the National Hockey League. Roussel is not only an agitator though, as he has shown a willingness to drop the gloves from time to time throughout his NHL career.

The veteran forward knows full well that he isn't guaranteed a contract with a professional tryout offer of this nature, but says that he relishes the chance to participate in another NHL training camp and to get the chance to showcase what he can still offer a team at the NHL level.

In his most recent NHL season, Roussel made 53 appearances for the Arizona Coyotes, registering 4 goals and adding 4 assists for a total of 8 points on the season. He finished his campaign with 59 penalty minutes and a plus minus rating of -16.
