Antoine Vermette ejected after taking out Artem Anisimov from behind.

The Phoenix Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks both lost a forward on Tuesday night when Phoenix's Atoine Vermette took out Chicago's Artem Anisimov from behind.

Roughly midway through the second period Vermette chased Anisimov to the boards, and when Anisimov stopped with the puck the result was Vermette slamming into him from behind, and driving Anisimov's head and neck into the boards at a very awkward angle.

It looked like Vermette was attempting to play the puck rather than deliver that type of cheap shot, not exactly something he has a reputation for doing, but with Anisimov injured on the play Vermette was ejected from the game, and rightfully so. Although you could argue that Anisimov put himself in a dangerous position, and the broadcast crew certainly did point that out, you'd be hard pressed to argue against the game misconduct.
