Let’s put it plain and simple. Forward Artemi Panarin did not show up in the New York Rangers’ first round series against the New Jersey Devils. There was an expectation was that the Rangers would make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After all, GM Chris Drury had made some bold, necessary moves, adding Vincent Trochek in the offseason and then acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane at the NHL trade deadline.

Drury probably never expected that his star player who is getting paid $11.6 million would be held without a goal and recorded just two points in the series.

This is the second consecutive season that Panarin disappoints in the postseason for the Rangers, when the team counts on him to show up.

Last spring, Panarin had given a poor excuse for his lack of goals in the playoffs, stating that he had to play with less risk in the playoffs and how that might have taken him out of what he does best, forcing to be more conservative on the ice.

However, what fans and the team end up with his an unproductive Panarin who desperately need to show up in the future, saying how much he gets paid for it.

Fans are expecting more and with changes likely to come this summer for New York, Panarin’s postseason playoff performance better be amongst them. Because right now, they are putting him through the wringer:
