Vancouver struggles to find a taker for the veteran winger.
The Vancouver Canucks’ attempts to move veteran winger Evander Kane may be running into a brick wall.
According to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal on Sportsnet 650’s Halford and Brough just last Friday, the Canucks reportedly tried to send Kane back to Edmonton. Sources in Edmonton, however, were quick to shut that idea down.
Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been quietly shopping several veteran pieces, including pending UFAs Kiefer Sherwood and Kane. While Sherwood is reportedly getting calls, Kane’s phone isn’t exactly ringing…
The veteran winger’s production hasn’t helped his trade value. Kane has just seven goals and 21 points in 45 games, well below what Vancouver hoped for when they brought him in.
If the Canucks are serious about moving on, they may have to sweeten the deal. Whether that means retaining salary or packaging a draft pick or prospect just to make Kane a viable trade target.
For now, it looks like finding a home for the struggling star won’t be easy. And it surely won’t be back in Edmonton.
