Auston Matthews absent from Leafs practice
The NHL's leading scorer wasn't practicing today.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to return to the ice tonight at the friendly confines of Scotiabank Arena after having knotted up their Round 1 Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Boston Bruins at one game apiece Monday night.
Thanks to a second period tying goal from John Tavares and the go-ahead goal in the 3rd period from Auston Matthews, the Leafs held on for a critical 3-2 victory and avoided falling into a two games to none hole against their Original 6 rival.
But ahead of tonight's Game 3, it was Matthews who wasn't practicing for the Leafs earlier this morning. But for fans worried about a potential injury or illness keeping the Rocket Richard Trophy winner off the ice, they needn't be. According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Matthews will be in tonight's lineup:
