Auston Matthews leaves Jack Edwards completely speechless

It isn't often that the outspoken Bruins commentator is at a loss for words.

It isn't often that outspoken Boston Bruins commentator Jack Edwards, who has developed a reputation in his near 20 years with the franchise as being one of the most notorious homers behind the microphone, is left completely speechless.

But as he's been able to do throughout his career, Toronto Maple Leafs superstar goal scorer Auston Matthews was able to do just that during last night's Game 2 of their Round 1 playoff series at TD Garden.

It was Matthews who broke in alone on goaltender Linus Ullmark and beat him with a backhand-forehand deke, giving the Leafs the lead in the 3rd period and serving as the game-winning goal, helping the Leafs to tie the series at one game apiece. Edwards described the following sequence of events as follows, before breaking off into no less than 10 seconds of complete silence:

“Rielly to Lyubushkin, Domi airs it out to Matthews, and he scores,” Edwards said.

Take a listen for yourself:

Amidst heavy speculation regarding his health, Edwards announced recently that he'll be calling it a career after this season is finished. How much longer this season will go, however, remains to be seen.
