You know it had to happen. Today is April fools day and the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets decided to make the best of it by pulling a trade on the most controversial day of the year.
On Friday, the Blue Jackets announced that they were shipping their beloved mascot Stinger to the Avalanche in return for theirs, Bernie the dog.
Fans were quick to point out that the joke was taking place on April Fools day and that trades could not take place after the deadline - though they can. But it would mean that neither Stinger or Bernie can participate in the remainder of the 2021-22 season…
Stinger seems to be serious about the trade, already making changes to his social media bios...
As fans commented on the much-talked about trade, the Blue Jackets maintained that it was not a joke… Are we expecting to see a new mascot in both Columbus and Colorado next season?
