This just in, the Colorado Avalanche have signed 23 year old free agent defenseman Alex Gagne.

The 6'4", 210 pound native of Bedford, NH was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 6th round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, but he failed to come to terms with the team. He captained University of New Hampshire this past season, putting up four goals and 17 points in 35 games.

He'll likely start the season with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, as the Avalanche's blue line is absolutely stacked. They boast Cale Makar, Devon Toews, Sam Girard and Josh Manson at the top of their lineup and then Brent Burns, Sam Malinksi and Keaton Middleton as depth options. Should Gagne prove to be capable enough, he could make an impression on the Avs' lineup sooner rather than later.
