Babcock admits to huge mistake that may have cost the Leafs a win

“It'll never happen again.”

The Toronto Maple Leafs were in St. Louis taking on the Blues on Saturday night - and lost by a score of 6-4.

When the score was 5-2, Alex Pietrangelo scored a goal that should have been challenged for goalie interference.

Here's the play.

Mike Babcock elected not to challenge the play and despite the Leafs scoring a couple of goals, a comeback was a stretch after falling behind by 4 goals.

Obviously, the goal margin was still pretty wide at 5-2, but if the goal had been overturned, the high scoring Leafs may have found a way to get back into the game.

The coach admits to the mistake, explaining what happened in the moment.

The Leafs, now 8-7-0, take on the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, potentially without the services of Auston Matthews, who will be a game-time decision.
