Comments from the head coach on why they waived their goalie.
On Monday morning the Leafs announced that just like that goaltender Jhonas Enrot was headed to waivers, leaving the Leafs with seemingly only one National Hockey League ready goaltender in Frederik Andersen.
While many have suspected that this is a move designed to bring in veteran goaltender Karri Ramo into the fold, it sounds like based on the comments from head coach Mike Babcock that the real reason behind the move had nothing to do with Ramo at all. In fact if one were to go solely based off the comments from Babcock it sounds like the Leafs were very disappointed in Enroth.
"Lou met with him today. Obviously, wasn't going good enough. We're just in a situation where we're making a change."
Enroth was bad for the Leafs, posting a goals against average of 3.94 and a save percentage of .872 over 6 appearances for Toronto, and despite that small sample size the team felt he was weak enough to warrant dismissing immediately.
