See what he had to say.
Mike Babcock decided to give Garret Sparks the start against the Edmonton oilers on Monday night.
According to Mark Masters, head coach Mike Babcock is looking for a couple of saves. Displeased with Bernier's lack of saves, Babcock believes that becoming a good NHL players is about taking advantage of opportunities, which Jonathan Bernier didn't do, when unexpected number one James Reimer fell to injury.
Babcock wants is team to play a well-structured game in front of the untested Sparks.
" Well we want to play well for sure. He's got an opportunity like lots of kids have had before him so it's up to him to grab it. He's got the best save percentage in the american Hockey league, he's playing all the time down there. That's a step before this step. Obviously we're in need of some saves so we're going to have to play well in from of him for sure, but it's an opportunity for him. All of us at one time, no matter what we were doing, were looking for an opportunity."
The Oilers will visit the Maple Leafs tonight at the ACC, game starts at 7:30 pm.
