The Toronto Maple Leafs imploded during last night’s second period as the Washington Capitals managed to score three goals in a minute and 18 seconds, guiding them to a 4-3 win over the Canadian team.
The Leafs could have had a chance when they pulled goalie Michael Hutchinson to add an extra forward in the last minute and a half of the contest, just one goal behind, however, head coach Mike Babcock made a shocking move that angered all of Leafs Nation.
He once again refused to put on star forward Auston Matthews in the most crucial moment of the contest. Matthews leads the entire Toronto crew with seven goals, but was left on the bench when the Leafs needed one the most.
TSN host and former Maple Leaf Carlo Colaiacovo questioned the move right after the loss.
Fans of the Maple Leafs were quick to criticize Babcock for his questionable decision and made their outrage known on social media, even asking general manager Kyle Dubas to get rid of him.
What do you make of Babcock’s decision?
