This is a tough start to a National Hockey League career.

According to a report from RG Media's Marco D'Amico, Montreal Canadiens prospect Alexander Zharovsky will miss his first ever chance at an NHL development camp over visa issues. D'Amico reports that Zharovsky was unable to get his visa approved in time, a very unfortunate situation for the young man.

Zharovsky was selected in the second round (34th overall) of this year's NHL Entry Draft and had already expressed how excited he was about playing in a big hockey market like the one found in Montreal. Additionally this will come as very unfortunate news to Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov, who is close friends with Zharovsky.

Zharovsky spoke to the media following his selection at the draft and had spoken about how excited he was to finally be on the same team as his childhood friend.

"I just got off the phone with him," said Zharovsky as per TVA Sports. "We are so happy. I've known [Demidov] since I was 8 years old. He told me 'We will finally get the chance to play together.'"

It's not as though Zharovsky was set to make an immediate jump to the NHL and contribute right out of the draft, but this is definitely a setback and one that comes at perhaps the worst possible time for a young 18 year old hoping to develop into a bonafide NHL player.

Zharovsky is coming off of a season in Russia's top junior league, the MHL, and had 24 goals and 26 assists for a total of 50 points over just 45 games last season.
