A tough break for the 19 year old Flyers forward.
The Philadelphia Flyers have just hit one of their rookies with what has to feel like some incredibly disappointing news for the young man.
On Monday morning, the Flyers officially announced that first round pick Jett Luchanko would be heading back to his junior team once again, for the second time in as many seasons. Luchanko, who had appeared to make the team out of training camp, lasted just 6 games on the main roster before the Flyers decided to pull the plug on his latest attempt at breaking into the National Hockey League.
As I mentioned this isn't the first go around for Luchanko who had seemingly made the team last season as well, only for him to be sent back down to junior on that occasions as well.
The Flyers selected Luchanko 13th overall at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and he has since gone on to appear in 8 games for the Flyers, although he has yet to register a point in the NHL.
Now instead of living out his NHL dream, Luchanko will be headed back to the Ontario Hockey League where he will join up with the Guelph Storm once again. Luchanko is coming off of a great season for the Storm, one in which he had 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points in just 46 games.
