Things aren't looking so hot...
This just in, the Montreal Canadiens have demoted 21 year old rookie and former 5th overall pick (2023) David Reinbacher to the AHL's Laval Rocket.
Reinbacher, who was chosen just behind established NHL stars Connor Bedard, Leo Carlsson, Adam Fantilli and Will Smith, has yet to play an NHL game despite having four seasons of pro hockey under his belt. He was expected to make the Habs' full-time roster and push for playing time this season, but has so far failed to do so.
At this point, Habs fans have to be asking themselves if the Austrian defenseman is entering into "draft bust" territory.
His knee injury and subsequent surgery sidelined him for much of last season, he has nearly a full 8 months to recover and put his best foot forward. So again... the question has to be asked, "Is Reinbacher a bust?"
