The Boston Bruins were expecting the worst but hoping for the best regarding their forward David Backes. Unfortunately, the worst scenario possible is what was awaiting the Bruins.
Backes is sidelined with a concussion and is out indefinitely. Backes suffered from a few brain trauma in the past and it's not looking good. While concussions are all different, it has been proven that they're more difficult to heal as they add up.
The Bruins forward got injured after a late hit given by Buffalo Sabres William Carrier. A first of July acquistion, Backes scored 9 goals and added 10 assists for 19 points in 33 games this season.
