There were some worrying signs regarding Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot earlier today, but now the Senators themselves have confirmed the bad news.

Earlier today the Senators announced that they had recalled defenseman Jacob Larsson from the Belleville Senators, and considering Chabot left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and did not return, that wasn't a good sign.

Senators insider Bruce Garrioch speculated at the time that this would mean Chabot would not play on Monday, and he was spot on with his prognostication.

The Senators have now announced that Chabot has been placed on injured reserve, meaning that he will now be out for at least a week as a result of the injury he suffered on Saturday.

Chabot was injured when he was on the receiving end of a big hit from Flyers forward Travis Konecny. Konecny drilled Chabot from behind and pinned Chabot between his body and the boards, but the Senators defenseman contributed in a big way to that outcome. Right as Konecny went in for the hit, Chabot suddenly and drastically altered his trajectory, and by extension the position of his body.

Chabot would be able to leave the ice under his own power, but appeared to be in a good bit of discomfort.
