Barrie throws Hutchinson under the bus with most awkward call!

The Toronto Maple Leafs gathered at City Hall on Thursday where was held an outdoor practice to bring hockey back to basics. 

It was a great way for the players to get ready for Sunday’s contest where they will face the Panthers in Florida. The Leafs had fun with a 3-on-3 tournament, but there had to be a losing team. 

And unfortunately for defenseman Tyson Barrie and backup goalie Michael Hutchinson - who could use the confidence of any win - they were on the losing team. 

While he made a joke after the loss, Barrie managed to make everyone feel awkward for poor Hutch. It has been mentioned more than once that the Maple Leafs are looking at ways to better their backup goalie situation, but it didn’t stop Barrie from throwing his teammate under the bus after the tournament, per TSN.  

"Would have been nice to see Hutchy make a save. He kind of ruined it for our whole team. But whatever, it's not a big deal. I'm not a big finger-pointer."

While we are aware this is a joke, you have questioned the wording here. Let’s hope that’s not how players react in the Leafs’ dressing room when Frederik Andersen isn’t in net and Hutch is the one with the loss…
