Barry Trotz fires right back at Yaroslav Askarov's trade request
We could be seeing a standoff soon!
As first reported by former NHL goaltender and current analyst Kevin Weekes, highly touted Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov has requested to be traded and stated he will refuse any assignment to the American Hockey League.
It wouldn't be long before that news reached Predators GM and former coach Barry Trotz, who appears to have no interest in granting Askarov's request for a change in scenery.
"We are aware of the report today, and our expectation is for the player to report to training camp and compete for a job in September," Trotz said in a statement.
Askarov has mostly played for Nashville's American Hockey League affiliate Milwaukee Admirals, registering a record of 56-29-6 record with nine shutouts. He has minimal NHL experience, having briefly appeared with the Predators on three occasions and amassing a 1-1 record with a 2.58 goals against average and .914 save percentage.
