Two young stars clash after the final buzzer and all hell breaks loose.
This could be the start of a very exciting rivalry between two very young and very talented players in the National Hockey League.
On Sunday night the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks faced off in what would prove to be a back and forth affair that featured an incredible comeback on the part of the Blackhawks. After an early 3-1 lead for the Ducks in the first period, the Blackhawks would claw all the way back with a pair of goals in both the second and third period to take the game by a score of 5-3.
As you might imagine, emotions were riding high in a game of this nature and when the final buzzer sounded at the end of the third period those emotions boiled over. At the center of it all were two star forwards, Mason McTavish of the Ducks and Connor Bedard of the Blackhawks, with a brief confrontation between the two men resulting in pandamonium on the ice.
It looked as though McTavish was the man who started the conflict, skating over to Bedard and saying something to the Blackhawks forward that caused Bedard to respond with a shove. The on ice officials quickly tried to seperate the two men but once the players on both teams realized who was involved they all dove into the pile.
You can see a replay of those final moments of the game just below:
Something tells me we haven't seen the last of the rivalry between these two, and that would be great news for hockey fans.
