We get the feeling that Montreal Canadiens defenseman Ben Chiarot will get traded ahead of the deadline on March, 21st. Pundits and fans are keeping an eye on social media to see when the move takes place, but unfortunately for Paul Kennedy and his co-host Dave Andreychuk of Ballys Sports, they got the information from a fake Twitter account.

During the intermission of the game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kennedy announced that Chiarot had been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The fake deal reported that Montreal was sending Chiarot and a third-round pick to Toronto in return for prospects Topi Niemela and Matthew Knies and this years first round pick.
But that deal never took place. But the account's handle was the MapleLeefs...

This is embarrassing:

Fans are prepared for Chiarot, who gained in value in last night’s overtime win over the Calgary Flames, to be traded.
However, we feel like fans - and now Kennedy and Andreychuk - should be aware of fake accounts, especially as we near the trade deadline.

While the Maple Leafs might be interested in Chiarot, Darren Dreger reported on last night’s edition of Insider Trading on TSN that the New York Rangers were keeping a close eye on the blue liner.

“Chris Drury and the Rangers, given the opportunity, would like to bolster his blue line, so they are among the many suitors in on Montreal Canadiens’ defenseman Ben Chiarot three weeks before the deadline.”

Now that is not a fake account… Let’s all be careful and soon enough, the real deal will take place.
