“Bergevin is in year six of a five year plan” says NHL insider
Is the GM making a rushed decision with Victor Mete?

Several Montreal Canadiens fans may be thrilled about young defenseman Victor Mete making the roster and joining Shea Weber on the top line. But NHL insider Michael Farber is not one of them.
Farber took on the mic on TSN 690 Montreal, and explained why he is concerned about Montreal's blue-line heading into the beginning of the regular season. According to Farber, although Mete is fast and handles the puck very nicely for his young age, we have only seen him in practice hockey. It could all change once he faces top players like Pittsburgh Penguins' Sidney Crosby or Evegni Malkin.
"[The Habs] won't be able to hide him all the time. He looks like a terrific kid, but we have to remember, we're watching practice hockey, we'll have to see when it starts for real," Farber added.
For that lack of depth on the blue line, Farber blames only one person: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin.
"I hope Mete works for Bergevin's sake, who is now starting year six of a five year plan, you better hope this is good!"
Many experts have compared Mete to Boston Bruins' Torey Krug, because of his speed and size, however, the rival defender has more professionnal experience that the 19-year-old. We shall see once the season gets started.
