The National Hockey League's commissioner took a hard line stance against advertisements appearing on the jersey's of National Hockey League franchises earlier this month, and in fact we praised him for doing so.
In a recent interview with Jonas Siegel of The Canadian Press Gary Bettman appeared to shift his stance. although admittedly it was only slightly, and instead of flat out stating that he would not welcome the advertisements, he said it would require a huge offer to make them consider it.
CP: We’ve seen the NBA take that step. If one league takes it do you think it just becomes a matter of time?

Bettman: I’ve always said, you’re going to have to drag us kicking and screaming. We won’t be first. Obviously the NBA went first. And it would take a huge incentive for us to even consider it
This is clearly a shift in stance from Bettman, and while his comments do indicate that they aren't coming any time soon, he did leave the door open for the possibility this time around.
