Big development in the Mitch Marner carjacking case.
Marner shares some good news.
The Toronto Police made a relatively unheralded announcement on Friday that has big implications for the Toronto Maple Leafs moving forward.
Early on Friday morning the Toronto Police announced that they had apprehended two men in relation to a carjacking that had occurred in the Etobicoke area. What they didn't reveal in their announcement was that this particular case was the carjacking that had involved Maple Leafs star forward Mitch Marner all the way back in September.
The story of Marner and his fiancee being carjacked made national headlines at the time of the original incident and it has no doubt been something that has been weighing heavily on the mind of the National Hockey League forward. Following the news Marner admitted that he was relieved the Toronto Police had done their job.
“I give my thanks and my gratitude and appreciation because it wasn’t easy,” said Marner as per David Alter. “There weren’t many cameras or anything around. The sun was going down so it was tough to see everything. But they did a great job of just sticking with it and getting the job done.”
Unfortunately one of the suspects allegedly involved in the incident is currently still at large, but in spite of that fact Marner says he is already putting this incident in the rear view mirror.
“It’s finally good that I don’t probably have to talk about it anymore, to be honest,” Marner said. “It’s a moment you don’t want anyone you know personally or just anyone to be a part of, it’s a scary situation.”
Hopefully the suspect that remains at large will also soon be scooped up by law enforcement, and hopefully both Marner and his fiancee can put this traumatic event behind them.
