The Montreal Canadiens were hoping to get Carey Price back before the end of the season and if Monday's practice was any kind of indication, they may get their wish.
The Habs star goaltender participated in a full practice alongside his teammates on Monday and according to reporters on the scene he appears to be in solid form in spite of the fact that he has missed all of the 2021 - 2022 National Hockey League regular season thus far. Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette stated that Price was "looking very good" at practice with his teammates:
Eric Engels posted a short clip of Price working out on the ice this morning:
Patrick Friolet of RDS gave us the best look at Price on the ice this morning in the following clip:
This would be a great morale boost for both the Montreal Canadiens locker room and for their fan base as well. It could also have more serious long term implications as well however, with National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman speculating this weekend that Price could be showcased towards the end of the season in order to facilitate a trade.
"Do we see Carey Price again?" asked Friedman over the weekend. "That's the only other thing for the rest of the season that I look at with them. Because if Carey Price comes back and plays, then I think there's a chance he's playing somewhere else next year."
"I could see Carey Price coming back and playing somewhere else," echoed co-host Jeff Marek.
In spite of the fact that the Canadiens are a staggering 35 points out of the playoff race and were in fact the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention, despite making it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final last season, it sounds like the end of their season could prove to be an interesting one. How Price plays, if he does indeed return to the Canadiens net, could have major ramifications moving forward.
