Big update on injured goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has missed the entire regular season so far.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been without arguably their best player for the entire regular season thus far, but on Sunday we finally got some information regarding the status of star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Vasilevskiy recently underwent back surgery in an effort to correct a lumbar disc herniation and at the time the Lightning announced that they expected Vasilevskiy to miss the first two months of the regular season. Vasilevskiy is however an exceptional athlete and now, less than one month into the regular season, we are already seeing the star netminder returning to the ice.

To be clear this does not indicate that Vasilevskiy is ready to play just yet, however it was an incredibly positive sign on Sunday to see him warming up on the ice.

Here's another look at Vasilevskiy working out on the ice.

There has been no updated timeline regarding the status of the veteran goaltender from the Lightning, but seeing him back out on the ice so soon has to be a positive sign. Of course everyone is hoping that Vasilevskiy will take the time to fully heal and will not rush back into action, but only he and the Lightning's medical staff will be able to make that determination.
