Big update on Jake McCabe on Monday morning.

Big update on Jake McCabe a little over a week after he suffered a scary injury.

Jonathan Larivee

It has been a little over a week since Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe suffered a rather scary looking injury but, thankfully for the Leafs, Monday morning has brought with it some good news.

According to a report from Maple Leafs beat reporter David Alter, the Maple Leafs' injured defenseman has returned to the ice ahead of practice today. It remains to be seen if McCabe will participate in the practice itself, but the fact that he is out there skating ahead of practice is itself a good sign when it comes to his recovery.

Here is a look at McCabe out on the ice today:

McCabe has of course been out of the lineup since he suffered a scary looking head injury last weekend when his head was driven into the ice after a fight with Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway, one that left McCabe in bad shape. McCabe was clearly seeing stars after hitting his head off the ice and was unable to get back to his feet for several long moments as a result of what appeared to be a concussion.

McCabe was eventually helped off the ice by members of the Maple Leafs' staff as well as his teammates and has been out of the lineup since suffering the injury.

Here's a look at how the injury occurred if you missed it at the time:

Hopefully for the Leafs this means that McCabe is making a quick recovery from the ugly looking injury, which in turn hopefully means he will be back in the lineup sooner rather than later.
