This just in, the St. Louis Blues have reportedly signed goaltender Jordan Binnington a long-term contract extension.
Check it out:
I've got to say, if I'm a Blues fan I'm pretty nervous about this deal. Yes, Binnington delivered a Stanley Cup to the Blues and was absolutely electric in his rookie season. But since then, Binnington has been a shadow of his former self. He put up a remarkable 1.89 goals against average and .927 save percentage in his rookie season, but that fell to 2.56 goals against average and .912 save percentage last season. This season he's even worse at 2.69 goals against average and .908 save percentage. Oh and keep in mind that Binnington is no baby-faced youngster, he's a 27 year old after breaking into the NHL at 25. I hope this deal works out for the Blues but it has "Matt Murray 2.0" written all over it.
