Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews being SHREDDED for tone-deaf comments

Last night was not the Blackhawks captain's finest moment.

The identity of the former Chicago Blackhawks player who brought to light explosive sexual assault allegations against the team has been revealed as Kyle Beach, a 2008 Draft selection who suffered abuse at the hands of then-video coach Brad Aldrich during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The full details of the report that was released yesterday afternoon have resulted in the resignations of general manager Stan Bowman and senior director of hockey administration Al MacIsaac. Additionally, the team was fined $2 million by the NHL.

The Blackhawks promptly issued a statement on social media, apologizing for what Beach suffered through as well as reiterating their commitment that such behavior never happens again.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have come under even more scrutiny thanks to the absolutely tone-deaf comments made from captain Jonathan Toews following last night's 3-2 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

While speaking of the scandal that's rocked the organization and the rest of the National Hockey League, Toews had this to say:

Of course, this came on the heels of his equally tone-deaf comments this past summer when the scandal first was made public, saying that he was "annoyed":

"I don't know who the player (who talked to The Athletic) is, but it kind of annoyed me because it seemed like it fed the fire a little bit," Toews said. "When that player commented that everybody on the team knew, that wasn't true."

And not surprisingly, the embattled Blackhawks captain is being put through the ringer on social media by fans and pundits who are still stunned at his comments. Take a look at a sampling below.
