Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson releases more bad injury news
At this point the Blackhawks look pretty much like an AHL team... with Kane and Toews.
HockeyFeed
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that defenseman Jake McCabe will miss 10-12 weeks as he recovers from spinal surgery. Additionally, Jalen Luypen will miss 14-18 weeks with a torn rotator cuff.
This means the Blackhawks will trot out a defense corps of Seth Jones, Caleb Jones, Jack Johnson, Riley Stillman and... well... who knows? I'd imagine Alex Vlasic and Ian Mitchell will all see time, as well. Any way you cut it though, that's not a quality NHL defense. Up front they have Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, obviously, and then a rag tag group of Tyler Johnson, Andreas Athanasiou, Max Domi and Colin Blackwell... a far cry from the team's glory years. To me, this looks like a team that's in the running for projected 1st overall pick Connor Bedard and not much else.
