There will be nothing as huge than the news back in November that the Chicago Blackhawks were letting go of legendary head coach Joel Quenneville, who was replaced by a younger candidate Jeremy Colliton

However, even though Colliton has made impactful changes this year that could see the Hawks becoming contenders once again in the near future, it seems like more changes were needed to get what the team has been seeking for the upcoming season.

That’s why on Tuesday, the Blackhawks announced another coaching change as they have hired Marc Crawford as an assistant coach.

Crawford most recently served as interim head coach for the Ottawa Senators this past spring. When the Canadian team ruled him out as a candidate for the head coaching job, which was finally filled by D.J. Smith, Crawford was back on the market and spotted by the Hawks.

The 58-year-old comes to Chicago with 18 seasons of NHL coaching experience, including 1,169 games as head coach. He won the Stanley Cup in 1996 with the Avalanche and holds a 556-431-182 all-time NHL coaching record.

It is now a family affair in Chicago as Crawford’s son, Dylan, also serves as Chicago’s assistant video coach.
