The 28 year old forward is on the move. Full details
Chicago Blackhawks' GM Kyle Davidson has been one busy man today!
The Blackhawks have made three transactions today, albeit none of them near as involved as his blockbuster Patrick Kane deal with the New York Ranger.
The did pull off a fairly significant deal with the Dallas Stars though, sending forward Max Domi and Dylan Wells to the Stars in exchange for Anton Khudobin and a 2nd round pick in 2025.
Check it out:
The 28 year old Domi has had a renaissance season with the Blackhawks this year after a few down campaigns where he bounced around the NHL a bit. He has an impressive 18 goals and 49 points in 60 games for the Blackhawks this season, his best point totals since 2019 when he was a member of the Montreal Canadiens. He'll be a good fit on a Stars team that looks like it can do some damage in the West this post-season.
As for the rest of this trade, there's not much to report on. Wells, who is headed to Dallas with Domi is a 25 year old minor-league goaltender on an expiring contract. He's mostly been up and down between the ECHL and the AHL over his pro career. Khudobin, of course, is the other big name in this deal but he's a shadow of his former self. The 36 year old former playoff hero has played 24 games for the Stars' AHL affiliate this season and is in the final year of a deal that pays him $3.33 million per season. He'll likely retire this upcoming offseason.
Earlier in the day, the Blackhawks received forward Anders Bjork from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for... literally nothing.
Sabres GM Kevyn Adams promised Bjork that he'd try to find a new destination for him after it was clear that Bjork wasn't factoring into the Sabres' long-term plans. The 26 year old forward will now get a fresh start in Chicago.
Finally, GM Davidson and the Blackhawks shipped out forward Dylan Sikura to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for minor-league forward Max Golod.
To be honest, this looks to be merely a swap of minor league forwards, especially when you consider that the two NHL franchise's AHL affiliate teams pulled off a minor-league blockbuster earlier today as well:
The IceHogs are making a push for a spot in the AHL's Calder Cup Playoffs and their acquisitions of Grimaldi and Golod should help them in that regard.
