The Minnesota Wild defensive core led by Ryan Suter is one ofthe reason Devan Dubnyk got his 4th shutout this early in the season, a few days ago.

The eclosion of young defensemen like Matt Dumba, Jared Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin makes an impressive Top4 at the blueline for the Saint Paul organization. Coach Bruce Boudreau likes them enough to use them at a 20 minutes average on any given night and their 9-6-1 record proves Boudreau he's right of doing so.

This seems to leave Marco Scandella as the odd man out. Scandella is injured for the moment but saw his minutes drop from an average of 23 to 17 during the seven games he played this year.  TSN Reporter Scott Cullen thinks Minnesota could trade Scandella for more depth at the forward (probably center) position, given they let Eriksson-Ek play in Sweden for the year.

Carrying a 4 Millions cap hit, Scandella should be traded or he might just end up with the Las Vegas expansion team as he is clearly a 5th defenseman on a stacked up team full of blossoming prospects.
