Blues forward severely burned in accident.
The St. Louis Blues have just shared a very unexpected medical update.
It is unfortunately nothing but bad news for the Blues on Monday morning with the announcement that first round pick Jimmy Snuggerud has been sidelined for weeks due to injury. Snuggerud has been forced to undergo surgery to repair the damage to his left wrist and unfortunately as a result he will miss at least the next 6 weeks of action. The Blues say that Snuggerud will be reevaluated after that time frame, which of course means he could be out even longer.
Surprisingly that wasn't even the worst news of the day out of St. Louis with an announcement that 26 year old forward Alexei Toropchenko would also be out for weeks as a result of his own injuries. In the case of Toropchenko these injuries occurred off the ice and sound pretty bad, with reports that Toropchenko suffered "scalding burns" in his own home. A scalding burn is a type of burn that is caused by wet heat, like boiling water or steam, and in this case it sounds like the burns were relatively serious.
Toropchenko is being listed as week to week as a result of the burns, which doesn't sound good at all.
I hope both players can make a full and speedy recovery from their injuries, but my thoughts are especially with Toropchenko who sounds like he has been through a pretty horrible ordeal.
