NHL team trying something new to replace injured players

Experience counts for a lot

Usually when you have some injuries, it is a time when some young guys et a chance to show what they can do. Apparently the Blues don't believe in that at the moment.

St. Louis has turned to two veterans to add some depth with their many injuries to core players. They have given invites to Martin Havlat and Dainus Zubrus. Both players have the next 10 days to make an impression and turn it into a contract with the Blues. Doug Armstrong figured adding some experience might be the better option for the Blues who already have a few young guys with barely any experience in the lineup. Combined, Havlat and Zubrus have 2031 games of NHL experience. Add Scott Gomez and we can potentially have an old timers line.

This is definitely an interesting test by the Blues. Whether or not either player will earn a contract is yet to be seen. They will however bring some experience to the team and help the young guys out, for at least the next 10 days.
