Bobby Orr buries Ron MacLean over recent Don Cherry comments.

It would appear that there are those who have seen enough of Ron MacLean, specifically as it pertains to the treatment of his longtime friend, or perhaps now former fried, Don Cherry.

Last week, MacLean made several comments about Cherry during what has become a highly controversial interview, one that has since been refuted by Cherry and members of his family. On Sunday MacLean issued an apology for his comments, but it is clear that there are those, including the Cherry family who made it clear that MacLean is no longer welcome in their home, who won't be so quick to forgive MacLean for his latest betrayal.

One of those people is none other than National Hockey League legend Bobby Orr, who went out of his way to write the Editors of the Toronto Sun this week to not only speak out on behalf of Cherry, but to admonish MacLean for his behavior. There was a clear tone to the comments made by Orr, a tone that leads me to believe MacLean won't be getting any invites to Orr's home any time soon either.

Orr is of course among the most respected men to every play in the National Hockey League and is still considered to be one of the greatest NHL defenseman of all time, and the very best in the eyes of many, so when he speaks on matters related to the sport of hockey his words carry a great deal of weight. Whether or not they will have a genuine impact on MacLean remains to be seen, especially given that MacLean already seems to realize that he crossed a line that should not have been crossed.

The reaction to Orr's comments have had the polar opposite effect of MacLean's comments last week, with hockey fans coming out to praise Orr for sticking up for his longtime friend.
