This is hilarious! Congrats, Bobby! All the best to you and your young family.

Free agent forward Bobby Ryan officially announced his retirement from professional hockey last night in a somewhat roundabout way when he shared a story about his daughters refusing to eat his wife's home cooking. Say what?!
Just check it out:
So... if I'm reading this correctly Ryan is saying that he took his children (Riley and Chase) to Taco Bell after they refused his wife's cooking and had he not already been retired, his wife would have likely beat him into retirement upon returning home. As a father myself, I can relate lol
So, that's how most of us took the news that Ryan is announcing his retirement in a funny anecdote that pokes fun at his wife. Except... Ryan followed that post up awhile later saying that he is in fact NOT officially retiring.
Again, check it out:
But, let's get real here... he's retired.
He's still being paid out $1.83 million per season from the Ottawa Senators as a result of his contract buyout last season, so if he were to "officially" retire then he'd forfeit his rights to that money. I don't blame the guy for not signing his retirement papers just yet given that he's still got three more seasons of $1.83 million coming his way. This guy is living the dream! He's making nearly $2 million a year to NOT play hockey!
