Boston radio host hangs up on Hurricanes reporter and unloads on Hurricanes fans.
Awful Announcing

This is one way to become the most hated man in all of North Carolina.

There have only been 2 games played in the Eastern Conference Final thus far but there is no question that plenty of bad blood has developed between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins. Now to be clear it has not spilled out onto the ice too much, there have been some punishing hits in this series to be sure but nothing that has overtly crossed the line. However some of the commentators in the Boston market have done an excellent job of fueling the hate between these two fan bases, and perhaps none has done it better than co host of "Toucher and Rich" Fred Toucher.

It all started on Wednesday when Toucher welcomed Carolina Hurricanes beat writer Chip Alexander onto his radio program, specifically to discuss the Eastern Conference Final. Although Alexander's appearance on the show was not the most thrilling piece of radio you are ever going to here, Toucher disrespected Alexander when he hung up on him after just 4 minutes of air time. At the time Toucher stated that he simply could not stand to listen to a man with a southern accent talk about hockey and his disdain for southerners would only become more readily apparent later in the week.

Following the aborted appearance of Alexander Carolina radio host Adam Gold of 99.9 The Fan went on the show to discuss both the series between the Bruins and the Hurricanes as well as the previous incident with Alexander. That appearance went off without a hitch however, but after the 2nd game of the Eastern Conference Final Toucher once again went in on the Hurricanes and their fans.

"I have had enough of you hicks. Your stupid beat writer cried because I hung up on him. Then one of your radio guys comes on my show kisses my ass then shits on me on his website. You are not the south you are a mound of shit that I have to fly through to get to Knoxville."

Needless to say that has provoked quite a reaction from the Hurricanes fan base, and it even prompted a response from the aforementioned Adam Gold who took issue with Toucher's description of his radio appearance.

Something tells me this is only the beginning.
