The Bruce Boudreau Era began in earnest last night in Vancouver.

The Canucks' new head coach, hired less than 24 hours earlier to replace outgoing coach Travis Green, had an absolutely fantastic debut in leading his new team to a 4-0 blowout victory over the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Long suffering Canucks fans who boo'ed their team off the ice just 48 hours ago, serenaded Boudreau with chants of "Bruce, There it is!" set to the tune of the 90s one-hit wonder "Whoomp! There it is!"

Check it out:

How's that for a debut? Not only do you get a shutout win, but you get a personalized chant to boot? Can't draw it up much better than that!

And if that's not enough, Canucks fans were treated to their very first Boudreau "F Bomb" earlier in the day when the 66 year old groaned out a, "Oh, fuck..." while getting up from his chair.

I mean... who among us can't relate? This sounds like me anytime I have to get up from my seat after I've been sitting for more than five minutes.

In all seriousness though, Boudreau looks to be just what this franchise needs. He's a breath of fresh air for a team that has been struggling to breathe for weeks now. It's only one game, but it was the team's best performance of the season and if nothing else it can give them some confidence heading into the critical stretch of their season. There's no guarantee that the Canucks will even come close to sniffing a playoff spot this season, but if they are going to make a run of things ala the St. Louis Blues in 2019, they need more performances like last night's. And, frankly, I think Boudreau is the perfect man to have behind the bench in that type of situation. When your team is lacking motivation and need something or someone to play for, Boudreau is your man. He has consistently shown throughout his NHL coaching career that he has the ability to get positive results in the regular season, whether it be in Washington, Anaheim or Minnesota. Now... the playoffs are another story, but if you're a Canucks fan you're happy to deal with that problem when it arises.

As for the rest of the Canucks' roster, they looked refreshed and rejuvenated last night. Sure, Elias Pettersson still didn't set the world on fire, but sniper Brock Boeser busted a 13 game goal scoring drought and that's yet another positive the team can take from Boudreau's stellar debut.
