Boudreau gives one of Vancouver's top stars some 'tough love' with a healthy scratch.

Boudreau makes a tough call.

Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau has just made a very polarizing decision that is already causing plenty of debate.

On Saturday morning, Canucks reporter Thomas Drance indicated that Canucks star Brock Boeser was being deployed during the Canucks' morning skate in a manner that suggested he was headed for a healthy scratch ahead of tonight's game against the Arizona Coyotes on home ice at Rogers Arena.

Boeser who is one of the Canucks top young stars, has put up 3 goals and 11 assists for a total of 14 points in just 18 games this season for the Canucks, and the former first round pick (23rd overall) of the Canucks at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft hasn't been a healthy scratch since his first full season with the Canucks (2017-2018).

In spite of that however it seems that Boudreau has taken issue with Boeser's play on the ice this season and has decided to give the talented forward some 'tough love' by in fact making him a healthy scratch this evening. Boudreau was asked about Boeser's deployment following the Canucks morning skate, and he confirmed that Boeser would be watching from the press box later tonight.
