It did not take long for the New York Islanders to express their displeasure, but unfortunately it won't have any impact on the outcome of the game.

The Tampa Bay Lightning emerged victorious on Tuesday night, taking a 2-1 lead in the series, but the game winning goal may have been caused by an illegal hit to the head of an Islanders defender.

Lightning forward Brian Boyle, the man who scored the game winning goal, delivered a hit that appeared to strike the head of Thomas Hickey, knocking him out of the play as he lay flat on the ice. As a result Boyle found himself alone in front of the net, and put the game away in overtime.

Islanders head coach Jack Capuano was obviously disappointed at the lack of a call.

"It’s a direct shot to the head. Probably gonna be suspended for a game...Whole game shouldn’t come down to that."
